How it works
How the product exporter works
- 01
Enter a store
Any public Shopify store whose product list is open. Some stores close it, and the tool tells you when.
- 02
It reads the public product list
Shopify stores publish one for their online store. The tool reads up to four pages of 250 products, with a pause between pages.
- 03
You filter and download
Search the table, sort by price or date, then download a CSV that opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
Reading the results
What’s in the export
Title, URL, vendor and type
How the store names and files each product. Product types and vendors show how the catalog is organized.
Price and compare-at price
The lowest and highest variant price, and the highest compare-at price. A compare-at price above the price means the product is shown as on sale.
Variants and options
How many variants a product has, and the option names, such as Size / Color.
Tags
Stores use tags for filters, collections and internal notes. They often show how a store plans its range.
Dates
When each product was created, published and last updated.
What’s not included
Descriptions and images. They’re the store’s own content, so the export leaves them out.
Putting it to work
Good uses for the export
- 01
Benchmark your prices
Sort a competitor’s range by product type and compare price bands with yours. Look for gaps rather than copying prices.
- 02
Plan a range
Count products per type to see where a store goes deep and where it only dips in.
- 03
Track changes over time
Export the same store each month. New handles show new products, and price changes show up line by line.
What the exporter won’t do
- Export more than 1,000 products, or more than five stores an hour.
- Read products hidden from the online store, or prices in other markets.
- Copy descriptions or images. For your own store, Shopify’s admin export includes everything.

FAQ
Questions about the Shopify Product Exporter
What it reads, what it can’t see, and how to use the result.
Ask me about your storeIs it legal to export products from another Shopify store?
The product list is public, and facts such as prices and product names can generally be used for research. Descriptions and photos are protected by copyright, which is why this export leaves them out. Check the store’s terms, and don’t republish its content.
Why are descriptions and images missing?
On purpose. They’re the store’s creative work. The export gives you the facts you need for pricing and range research without the content you shouldn’t reuse.
How many products can I export?
Up to 1,000 per store, read in four pages of 250. The tool pauses between pages so it doesn’t put load on the store.
Can I import this CSV into my own Shopify store?
Not as it is. Shopify’s product import uses a different template, and another store’s products aren’t yours to sell. To move your own products, use Products > Export in your Shopify admin.
Why does the export fail for some stores?
Some stores close their public product list or block it in robots.txt. The exporter respects both and stops.
