Shopify revenue estimator

Model what a Shopify store could be making. The estimator reads the store’s real prices, then you set traffic and conversion to see low, middle and high scenarios.Model what a Shopify store could earn from its real prices.

Try:

  • Uses the store’s real prices
  • You control every assumption
  • Clearly labelled estimates

Reads the store’s public product list. Your inputs stay in your browser.

How the revenue estimator works

  1. 01

    It reads the store’s prices

From the public product list: lowest, median and highest price, in the store’s currency.

  2. 02

    You add traffic and conversion

Monthly visits from your own analytics or a traffic tool, and a conversion rate. Defaults are a starting point, not data.

  3. 03

    You see a range

Revenue is visits × conversion rate × order value. The estimator shows a low, middle and high case, per month and per year.

How to read the estimate

It’s a model, not sales data

No public source shows a store’s real sales. Any tool that gives one exact number is estimating too, usually without telling you how.

Order value

Starts at the store’s median price × items per order. Change it if you know the store bundles products or offers free shipping above a threshold.

Low, middle and high

The middle case uses your conversion rate. Low and high use half and one and a half times that rate, because conversion is the least certain input.

Scenario table

Revenue at five traffic levels and three conversion rates. Use it to see which assumption moves the result most.

Where the estimate helps

  1. 01

Size a niche before you enter it

Run three established stores in the niche with the same assumptions. If even the high case looks small, the niche may be too.

  2. 02

    Sense-check a store for sale

Put the seller’s traffic figure in. If their claimed revenue needs a conversion rate far above the high case, ask for proof.

  3. 03

Set targets for your own store

Use your real traffic and order value, then see what one extra point of conversion is worth per year.

What the estimate leaves out

  • Real orders, refunds and discounts. None of these are public.
  • Sales on other channels: marketplaces, wholesale, retail, social shops.
  • Traffic. You supply it. A traffic estimator built on licensed data is planned for a later version.

Questions about the Shopify Revenue Estimator

What it reads, what it can’t see, and how to use the result.

Ask me about your store
Can you see how much a Shopify store makes?

No. Only the owner and Shopify can see a store’s sales. Tools that show a revenue figure for any store are modelling it from public signals. This one shows you the model and lets you change every input.

Where do I get traffic numbers for another store?

From a traffic tool such as Similarweb or Semrush, which estimate visits from panel and clickstream data. For a store you’re buying, ask the seller for a Google Analytics or Shopify analytics screenshot.

What conversion rate should I use?

For your own store, use the rate in Shopify analytics. For someone else’s, model a range instead of one number. The estimator does this for you: the low and high cases sit either side of your rate.

How is order value worked out?

The store’s median product price multiplied by items per order, which starts at 1. Raise it for stores that sell sets, refills or add-ons.

Why is there no traffic estimate?

Traffic for other websites only comes from paid data providers. Rather than invent a number, this tool asks you for one. A traffic estimator using licensed data is planned.
