What matters more than the app
The app is the easy part. Reviews help sales when you ask every buyer at the right time, after delivery rather than after dispatch, and when you show them near the add to cart button. Reply to negative reviews politely and never filter them out, because shoppers trust a 4.7 average with honest complaints more than a perfect 5.0. My guide to using reviews and social proof covers the display side.
By country
The rules point the same way in the US, UK, EU and Australia: consumer regulators treat fake reviews, and hiding genuine negative ones, as misleading. In the EU and the Netherlands, stores that show reviews should also explain whether and how they check that reviews come from real buyers. A plain line under your review widget covers that.
What to do next
- Install Judge.me free. Import any existing reviews.
- Set up review requests. Send them a few days after delivery.
- Upgrade when needed. Move to $15 for reminders and Google Shopping once reviews are flowing.
