Etsy to Shopify migration

I set up your own Shopify store from your Etsy shop, import your listings properly and keep Etsy selling alongside it, so you add a channel you own without giving up the sales you have.

Your own store, Etsy alongside

Moving from Etsy to Shopify isn't a migration in the usual sense. Etsy is a marketplace: your listings, reviews and buyers live on Etsy's site, and its search sends you traffic. A Shopify store is your own site on your own domain, with your own customer list, and nobody sends you visitors for free. I'm a Shopify developer and CRO specialist and a Shopify Select Partner, so I lean towards Shopify, yet I usually advise keeping Etsy open next to the new store. My Shopify vs Etsy comparison sets out when each one fits better.

Importing from Etsy to Shopify is well supported. As checked on 7 November 2026, Shopify's free Store Migration app imports Etsy listings, or you download a CSV in Shop Manager under Settings > Options > Download Data. The file holds titles, descriptions, prices, quantities, tags, SKUs and image URLs, for active listings only. Sold-out or expired listings must be renewed first, which costs a listing fee. Variations need restructuring, a listing with 101 or more variation combinations imports without its variants, and products arrive as drafts.

Customers and order history move only with third-party apps, and Etsy buyers never joined your mailing list, so I import them as not subscribed. Reviews stay on Etsy unless an app can bring them across. There are no redirects to set up, because listing URLs belong to Etsy. That also means your new domain starts with no search history, so I rewrite titles built for Etsy search into product pages built for Google.

To keep both selling, note that Shopify's Marketplace Connect no longer accepts new Etsy connections. Shopify's guide points to third-party apps such as Shuttle and ShopList to sync listings, orders and inventory, and I set one up so a sale on either side updates stock on both. Every migration gets a fixed quote after a free 3‑point review.

Signs it's time for your own store

  • Etsy fees take a bigger bite as your sales grow.
  • You want buyers' emails so you can sell to them again.
  • Repeat customers ask whether you have your own website.
  • You want your own branding, domain and product pages.
  • Some products or bundles don't fit Etsy's rules.

What the move includes

Listing import

Active listings imported with the Store Migration app or CSV, titles cleaned up, and every product checked before it's published.

Variation rebuild

Etsy variations rebuilt as Shopify options and variants, with prices, stock and variant images on the right rows.

Etsy and Shopify sync

A sync app set up so listings, orders and stock stay in step and an item that sold on one channel can't be oversold on the other.

Your own domain

A domain bought or connected, store emails set up, and the shop live on your own name instead of a marketplace address.

Product pages for Google

Titles, descriptions, collections and meta tags written for Google search rather than Etsy tags, so the new store can be found.

Reviews and customers

Etsy reviews brought into a review app where the app supports it, and past buyers imported without marketing consent.

Why Etsy sellers work with me

01

Keep Etsy, add a store

I don't ask you to close what works. The plan is a second channel you own, built to run beside Etsy.

02

Traffic is in the plan

A store with no visitors is just a cost. Product pages, collections and SEO basics are set up so Google can send buyers.

03

Trust built in

Etsy gives shoppers confidence for you. On your own store, reviews, delivery details and a fast mobile checkout do that job, and I set them up.

How the move works

  1. 1

    Free 3‑point review

Send your Etsy shop link. I look at your listings and sales mix and tell you the three things the new store needs most.

  2. 2

    Plan and fixed quote

We agree what moves, how Etsy and Shopify will sync and what the store needs, then you get a fixed quote and timeline.

  3. 3

    Build and import

My team builds the store, imports and fixes your listings and sets up the sync, while your Etsy shop keeps selling.

  4. 4

    Launch both channels

The store goes live on your domain, the sync is tested with real orders, and you get a walkthrough of daily tasks.

Is this move right for you

A good fit

  • You have steady Etsy sales and want a channel you own.
  • You want an email list and repeat customers.
  • You're ready to bring some traffic of your own, from social, email or search.
  • You sell more than a handful of products.

Not the right fit

  • Nearly all your buyers find you through Etsy search and you have no time for marketing.
  • You're still testing a product idea. Etsy alone costs less while you find out.
  • You expect the new store to match Etsy's traffic straight away.

Migration questions, answered.

What store owners ask before moving to Shopify.

Ask me about your store
How do I import from Etsy to Shopify?

Shopify's free Store Migration app imports Etsy listings, or you download a CSV of active listings in Shop Manager under Settings > Options > Download Data and import it. Listings with variations need editing first, and products land as drafts. I handle the cleanup and check every product before it's published.

Can I keep selling on Etsy after moving to Shopify?

Yes, and Shopify's own guide says so. I usually recommend keeping both: Etsy brings marketplace buyers, while your store builds a customer list you own. A sync app keeps stock and orders aligned across the two.

Can I connect Etsy to Shopify with Marketplace Connect?

Not as a new connection. As checked on 7 November 2026, Shopify says new Etsy connections can't be made with Marketplace Connect, though existing users can keep it. Third-party apps such as Shuttle and ShopList sync listings, orders and inventory instead.

What happens to my Etsy reviews?

They stay on your Etsy shop. Shopify suggests a third-party app to bring them across, or downloading a copy. I check what your chosen review app can import before promising anything, and reviews that can't move still count on Etsy.

Can I email my Etsy customers from Shopify?

Only those who agreed to marketing. Etsy buyers didn't sign up to your list, so I import them as not subscribed. Your list grows from sign-ups on the new store, and that's the part of the business you own outright.

Do I need redirects when moving from Etsy?

No, because the old URLs are on Etsy's domain, not yours. The trade-off is that your new domain starts with no search history, so I set up product pages, collections and meta tags that give Google something to rank.

How much does moving from Etsy to Shopify cost?

The migration has no set price: you get a fixed quote after a free 3‑point review, based on listings, variations, design and the sync setup. Shopify itself offers 3 days free, then $1 a month for 3 months, and Basic is $25 a month, or $19 a month billed yearly.

Should I close my Etsy shop?

Not at the start. Keep it open until the new store brings its own orders, then decide based on where your profit comes from. Some sellers keep Etsy for good as a discovery channel.
