Overview
A move that keeps your rankings
The import is the quick part of a migration. Shopify's free Store Migration app, as checked on 7 November 2026, imports products and customers from Square, WooCommerce, Etsy, Wix, Amazon, eBay, Clover and Lightspeed R/X (Vend). Magento, BigCommerce, Webflow, Squarespace and the rest aren't on that list, so their data moves by CSV, a specialist migration app or Shopify's API.
The work goes into what those tools skip. Shopify uses fixed paths such as /products/ and /collections/, so almost every old URL changes, and each one needs a 301 redirect, set under Content > Menus > View URL Redirects. Shopify only applies a redirect when the old path returns a 404, so I test each one on the new store. Customer passwords can't be migrated, but on Shopify's customer accounts people sign in with a 6-digit code sent by email, so nobody is locked out. Reviews are often missing from platform exports and come across through a review app's import. Order history needs an app or the API, because Shopify can't import orders from a CSV file.
Then there are the features your old store gets from plugins or extensions. I list every one and decide what Shopify does natively, what an app covers and what needs custom code, and we agree that list before the build. SEO titles, meta descriptions, image alt text, pages and blog posts are mapped field by field, not left at defaults.
I cover WooCommerce, WordPress, Webflow, Magento, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, Etsy, eBay, Big Cartel, Lightspeed, PrestaShop, Shopware and OpenCart, plus Shopify to Shopify Plus upgrades and moves between two Shopify stores. Neto (now Maropost), Visualsoft and other platforms are on request. There's no set price for migration work: every move gets a fixed quote after a free 3‑point review of your current store.
Signs it's time to move
- Plugin or extension updates break something every few months.
- You pay for hosting, security patches and a developer to keep the lights on.
- Your platform version is near or past the end of its support.
- Simple changes, like a new landing page, wait in a developer's queue.
- Checkout is slow on mobile and hard to change.
What the migration includes
Data audit and mapping
I list every product, variant, customer field, order, page and post on your current store, and map each one to its place in Shopify before anything moves.
Products, customers and orders
Moved with the Store Migration app, CSV, a specialist app or the API, in Shopify's order: products first, then customers, then historical orders.
301 redirects for every old URL
Every product, category, page and post URL gets a redirect to its new Shopify address, imported by CSV and tested before launch.
SEO metadata and content
Page titles, meta descriptions, alt text, blog posts and pages carried over field by field, so search engines find the same content at the new address.
Features rebuilt, apps chosen
Each plugin or extension is replaced by a Shopify feature, an app or custom code, with no more apps than the store needs.
Theme, domain and launch
The store is built on a Shopify theme your team can edit, then the domain moves and the launch is checked page by page.
Benefits
Why stores move with me
SEO planned in, not patched later
I also run Shopify SEO work, so the redirect map and metadata are part of the plan from the first day, and I check Search Console after launch.

A fixed quote before work starts
Migration has no set price. After the free review you get one fixed figure for the whole move, with the scope written down.
How it works
How the migration works
- 1
Free review and fixed quote
I look at your current store and send three points: what moves cleanly, what needs care and what has to be rebuilt. Then you get a fixed quote and a timeline.
- 2
Map and build
Data and URLs are mapped, the Shopify store and theme are built, and a test import runs while your old store keeps selling.
- 3
Test everything
Payments, taxes, shipping, emails and redirects are tested on the new store, with order notifications switched off during imports.
- 4
Launch and final sync
On launch day I import the orders and customers created since the test run, move the domain and check the redirects live.
Is it a fit?
Is this migration right for you
A good fit
- You sell online and want a platform you don't have to host or patch.
- Your store has search traffic you can't afford to lose.
- You have history worth keeping: customers, orders, reviews or a blog.
- You want one fixed quote and one person accountable for the move.
- Your current platform is out of date or close to the end of support.
Not the right fit
- You need full server access or features only a self-hosted platform allows.
- You have a handful of products and are happy to copy them by hand.
- You want the move done over a weekend with no testing.
- You want to stay on your current platform: I only work on Shopify.

FAQ
Migration questions, answered.
What store owners ask before moving to Shopify.
Ask me about your storeHow much do Shopify migration services cost?
There's no set price, because a 200-product Wix store and a Magento store with years of orders are different jobs. I review your store for free, then send one fixed quote for the whole move. The quote only changes if the scope does.
Will I lose my Google rankings?
Rankings can dip for a while after any platform change, as search engines process the new URLs. The real damage comes from missing redirects and lost metadata, so every old URL gets a 301 redirect and every title and description is carried over. After launch I check Search Console for 404s and indexing drops.
Can customer passwords be migrated?
No. Shopify states that customer passwords can't be migrated. On Shopify's customer accounts, customers sign in with a 6-digit code sent to their email, so they don't need a password at all. If your store uses legacy accounts, I send account invitations so customers can set a new one.
Can you move my order history?
Yes. Shopify can't import orders from a CSV file, so I use a migration app or the API, after products and customers are in. Order notifications are switched off first, so your team doesn't get an email for every old order.
What happens to my product reviews?
Many platforms leave reviews out of their product export, and Shopify says Wix and Squarespace reviews can't be exported at all. Where the old platform or review plugin can export them, I import them into the Shopify review app you choose. Where it can't, I set the app up to collect new ones.
Does my store go offline during the move?
No. The old store keeps selling while the Shopify store is built and tested. On launch day the domain moves, the redirects go live and I bring across any orders placed since the test import.
Which platforms do you migrate from?
WooCommerce, WordPress, Webflow, Magento, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, Etsy, eBay, Big Cartel, Lightspeed, PrestaShop, Shopware and OpenCart, plus Shopify to Shopify and Shopify to Shopify Plus. Neto (now Maropost), Visualsoft and others are on request, scoped during the free review.
Do I need Shopify Plus after migrating?
Most stores don't. Plus starts at $2,300 a month and suits high-volume brands that need its extra features. Standard plans hold up to 100,000 URL redirects, which covers almost any catalog, and I'll tell you honestly which plan fits.
