Overview
A Magento move, done properly
Many Magento stores move because of the upgrade cycle. Adobe's lifecycle policy, as checked on 7 November 2026, shows standard support for Adobe Commerce 2.4.6 ended on August 11, 2026, and support for 2.4.7 ends on May 31, 2027. Each upgrade means testing every extension again, on top of hosting and security patches. On Shopify the platform updates itself, and your budget goes into the store instead.
Shopify's Store Migration app doesn't support Magento, so the data comes out through Magento's own export, under System > Data Transfer > Export, and the API. The native export covers products, advanced pricing, customers, customer addresses, customer finances and stock sources as CSV files. Orders aren't on that list, so order history moves through the API or a migration app, after products and customers are in. Product images come across separately and are checked against each SKU.
Mapping is the real work. Configurable products become Shopify products with variants. Custom attributes become metafields, so filters and spec tables still work. Store views for other countries or languages map to Shopify Markets. Customer groups and tier prices need a decision: tags and discounts, or an app. Extensions are listed one by one and replaced by Shopify features, apps or custom code. Customer passwords can't be migrated, but on Shopify's customer accounts customers sign in with an emailed 6-digit code.
Magento URLs can end in a suffix such as .html and can include category paths. Shopify's are fixed at /products/ and /collections/, so I build a redirect for every product, category and CMS page from Magento's URL rewrites and test them before launch. Standard Shopify plans hold up to 100,000 redirects and Plus up to 20 million. Every Magento move gets a fixed quote after a free 3‑point review.
Signs it's time to move
- Every Magento upgrade turns into a project of its own.
- Your version is near or past the end of Adobe's support.
- Hosting, security patches and extension conflicts eat the budget.
- Your team needs a developer for simple content changes.
- The storefront is slow on mobile and hard to speed up.
What the migration includes
Catalog mapping
Configurable and simple products mapped to Shopify products and variants, with custom attributes stored as metafields for filters and specs.
Customers and addresses
Customer records and addresses exported from Magento and imported, with code-based sign-in or account invites set up.
Order history
Past orders moved through the API or a migration app, linked to the right customers and products.
Redirects from URL rewrites
Every product, category and CMS page URL mapped from Magento's URL rewrites to its Shopify address.
Extensions replaced
Each extension matched to a Shopify feature, an app or a custom app, with the monthly cost listed.
Markets and group pricing
Store views mapped to Shopify Markets, and customer group pricing rebuilt with the tools your Shopify plan includes.
Benefits
Why move Magento with me
Large catalogs moved by script
Big Magento catalogs move through the API with counts checked at every step, not by copying rows by hand.
Custom apps where apps fall short
Where an extension has no Shopify equivalent, I build a custom app, from $800, so the feature isn't lost.

How it works
How the migration works
- 1
Free review and fixed quote
I review your Magento version, catalog, extensions and URL setup, send three points on what needs care, then a fixed quote.
- 2
Map and test import
Data and URLs are mapped, then a full test import runs into Shopify while Magento keeps selling.
- 3
Build and replace features
Theme, Markets, apps and custom features are built and tested, with order notifications off during imports.
- 4
Launch and final sync
Orders and customers since the test import are synced, the domain moves and every redirect is checked live.
Is it a fit?
Is this migration right for you
A good fit
- You run Magento 2 or Adobe Commerce, and upgrade and hosting costs keep growing.
- Your catalog has thousands of SKUs and years of order history to keep.
- You sell in more than one country or language.
- Search traffic matters, and every URL needs a redirect.
- You want an honest view on Shopify versus Shopify Plus before you commit.
Not the right fit
- Your business depends on deep custom logic inside Magento that costs more to rebuild than to maintain.
- You need full control over the server and database.
- You want every Magento extension copied like for like.
- You're close to finishing a large Magento rebuild that already does what you need.

FAQ
Migration questions, answered.
What store owners ask before moving to Shopify.
Ask me about your storeHow much does a Magento to Shopify migration cost?
There's no set price. It depends on SKU count, store views, extensions, how much order history you keep and any custom features. I review your store for free and send one fixed quote for the whole move.
Is there a Magento to Shopify migration checklist?
The short version: export the catalog and customers, map attributes to metafields, plan order history, build the redirect map from URL rewrites, replace each extension, test on Shopify, then run a final sync at launch. Each step is in the fixed quote so you can see what's covered.
Can I move my Magento order history?
Yes. Magento's built-in export doesn't include orders, so they move through the API or a migration app after products and customers. Order notifications are switched off first, so nobody gets an email for every old order.
Will my Magento URLs keep working?
The old URLs change, but each one gets a 301 redirect to its Shopify address, including .html and category-path URLs. Standard plans allow 100,000 redirects and Plus allows 20 million, so large catalogs fit.
Do I need Shopify Plus?
Not always. Plus starts at $2,300 a month and suits high-volume stores that need its extra features. Many Magento stores run well on a standard plan, and I'll tell you which one fits before you commit.
Can customers keep their passwords?
No. Shopify states that customer passwords can't be migrated. On Shopify's customer accounts, customers sign in with a 6-digit code sent to their email, so they don't need a new password.
What happens to my Magento extensions?
I list each one and match it to a Shopify feature, an app or a custom app. You see the full list, with monthly costs, before the build starts.
Do you cover Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source?
Yes, both, on Magento 2. Older Magento 1 stores can move too. Their exports work differently, so I choose the method after seeing the store during the free review.
