Overview
Where WooCommerce exports fall short
Shopify's free Store Migration app handles the first part of a WooCommerce move: it imports products and customers from CSV files. Shopify's own WooCommerce guide, as checked on 7 November 2026, then lists what that leaves out, and that list is where most of my time on the project goes.
Products arrive as drafts. WooCommerce categories become tags, which I turn into collections. Products with four or more variation attributes import without their variants, and scheduled sale dates don't import at all, so I rebuild both. Images download from your WooCommerce URLs, so the old site stays online until the import is checked. WooCommerce has no customer CSV export with full address details, so customers come out through a plugin instead.
Orders can't be imported to Shopify by CSV, so order history moves with an app such as Matrixify or LitExtension, after products and customers. Product reviews aren't in the WooCommerce export either, so they move through the review app's own import. Blog posts and pages live in WordPress, not WooCommerce, and need their own export. Customer passwords can't be migrated, but on Shopify's customer accounts customers sign in with an emailed 6-digit code, so nobody has to reset anything.
Then the URLs. WooCommerce puts products under /product/ and categories under /product-category/ by default. Shopify uses /products/ and /collections/, so every one of them changes. I build the full redirect map, import it under Content > Menus > View URL Redirects and test it before the domain moves. Every WooCommerce migration gets a fixed quote after a free 3‑point review.
Signs it's time to move
- Plugin updates break checkout or the theme every few months.
- You pay separately for hosting, security, backups and a developer to keep it patched.
- The site gets slower as the catalog and the plugin list grow.
- You want Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay without stacking payment plugins.
- Your team waits on a developer for simple changes.
What the migration includes
Products and variants
Products imported with the Store Migration app or the API, with four-plus attribute variants, sale prices and categories rebuilt as Shopify options and collections.
Customers with full addresses
Customer records exported with a plugin that includes billing and shipping addresses, then imported into Shopify with their marketing consent kept.
Order history
Past orders moved by app or API after products and customers, so each order links to the right customer and product.
Reviews, blog and pages
Reviews moved through your review app's import, and WordPress posts and pages moved with their images, authors and dates.
301 redirect map
Every /product/, /product-category/, page and post URL mapped to its Shopify address and imported as a redirect.
Plugins replaced
Each WooCommerce plugin matched to a Shopify feature, an app or custom code, so you don't pay for more apps than you need.
Benefits
Why move WooCommerce with me
I find the gaps before I quote
Sale dates, variant limits, address exports and reviews are checked on your store during the free review, so they're in the quote, not a surprise later.
SEO built into the move
I run Shopify SEO work too, so titles, meta descriptions, alt text and redirects are part of the migration, then checked in Search Console after launch.

How it works
How the migration works
- 1
Free review and fixed quote
I check your catalog, plugins, order count and URL setup, send three points on what needs care, then a fixed quote and timeline.
- 2
Test import
Products, customers and a sample of orders go into a new Shopify store while WooCommerce keeps selling, and I check them against the original.
- 3
Build and test
Theme, collections, apps, redirects, taxes, shipping and emails are set up and tested, with order notifications off during imports.
- 4
Launch and final sync
Orders and customers created since the test import come across, the domain moves to Shopify and every redirect is checked live.
Is it a fit?
Is this migration right for you
A good fit
- You run WooCommerce and you're tired of managing hosting, updates and plugin conflicts.
- Your store gets search traffic you need to keep.
- You have order history, reviews or a blog worth bringing with you.
- You want one fixed quote for the whole move.
- You sell in several countries and want Shopify Markets for local currencies and languages.
Not the right fit
- You depend on a custom WordPress feature with no Shopify equivalent, and rebuilding it costs more than it's worth.
- Your site is mainly a blog with a small shop on the side, and the blog matters more.
- You want to keep full server access and your own hosting.

FAQ
Migration questions, answered.
What store owners ask before moving to Shopify.
Ask me about your storeHow much does a WooCommerce to Shopify migration cost?
There's no set price. The cost depends on the number of products and variants, how many orders you want to keep, and which plugins need replacing. I review your store for free and send one fixed quote for the whole move.
Will my customers have to reset their passwords?
Shopify states that customer passwords can't be migrated. On Shopify's customer accounts, customers sign in with a 6-digit code sent to their email, so there's no password to reset. On legacy accounts, I send account invitations so customers can set a new one.
Can I keep my WooCommerce order history?
Yes. Orders can't be imported to Shopify by CSV, so they move with a migration app or the API once products and customers are in. Order notifications are switched off first, so nobody gets an email for each old order.
Will my product URLs change?
Yes. WooCommerce uses /product/ and /product-category/ by default, and Shopify uses /products/ and /collections/. Every old URL gets a 301 redirect, and standard Shopify plans allow up to 100,000 redirects, which covers almost any store.
What happens to my WooCommerce reviews?
Reviews aren't included in the WooCommerce product export. I export them from WooCommerce or your review plugin and import them into a Shopify review app, such as Judge.me, one of the options Shopify's own guide names.
Can I move my WordPress blog as well?
Yes. Blog posts and pages aren't in the WooCommerce export, so I export them from WordPress and import them as Shopify blog articles and pages, with redirects from the old post URLs.
Do I have to take my WooCommerce site down?
No, and you shouldn't. Shopify pulls product images from your WooCommerce URLs during the import, so the old site has to stay online. It keeps selling until launch day.
What happens to my plugins?
I list every plugin and match it to a Shopify feature, an app or custom code. Where nothing fits, a custom app starts from $800. You get the full list, with monthly costs, before the build starts.
