Shopify for manufacturers and B2B

I build Shopify B2B stores for manufacturers and machinery distributors: inquiry-led pages for high-value machines, cart checkout for parts and tooling, and trade accounts with their own prices and terms.

Two ways to buy, one store

Nobody adds a five-figure CNC router to a cart and pays by card. A buyer for a joinery or a factory wants specs, brochures, videos, lead times and a conversation with someone who knows the machine. But the same buyer orders saw blades, cutters and consumables every few weeks and wants that to be as quick as any online shop. An industrial store has to handle both, and most templates only handle the second.

That's the problem I solved for Wood Tech, an Australian trade and B2B distributor of CNC machines, edgebanders, panel saws and tooling. Machine pages lead with Enquire Now, specs, brochures and videos, to turn high-value visits into sales inquiries, while smaller tooling can be bought straight from the cart. Shoppers can browse by brand, by machine type or through a used-machinery route. After the full build, I also did its CRO, speed and SEO work.

Shopify's B2B features carry the trade side, and you don't need Plus for most of them. As checked on 7 November 2026, B2B runs on the Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus plans. Every one of those plans includes company accounts with locations, catalogs, volume pricing, quantity rules, net payment terms, saved cards, draft orders and the option to hold B2B orders as drafts for your team to review. Plus adds company-specific catalogs, deposits and partial payments, and removes the limit of three active catalog assignments. Each company location also holds its own tax ID or VAT number.

The catalog needs structure too. Machine specs live in metafields, brochures and manuals attach as files, spare parts link to the machines they fit, and used machines carry year, hours and condition notes. Inquiry forms pass the machine model into the message, so your sales team knows what the buyer was looking at. Every build gets a fixed quote after a free review.

Where B2B and machinery stores lose sales

  • Machine pages push a cart button when buyers want to talk to sales.
  • Inquiries arrive without the model, company or quantity you need.
  • Trade customers see retail prices, or ask for a price list by email.
  • Brochures and manuals sit on a downloads page nobody finds.
  • Used machines live in a spreadsheet instead of on the site.

What I build for manufacturers and distributors

Inquiry-led machine pages

Enquire Now as the main action, with specs, brochures and videos on the page and the model passed into the form.

Cart checkout for parts and tooling

Blades, cutters and consumables sold through the normal cart, with quantity rules and volume pricing for trade buyers.

Shopify B2B accounts

Companies with locations, buyer logins, catalogs, net payment terms and tax IDs, set up on Basic, Grow, Advanced or Plus.

Quotes and draft orders

Sales staff build quotes as draft orders and send an invoice link, and trade orders can be held as drafts for review.

Used machinery route

A used-equipment collection with year, hours, condition notes and photos, kept separate from new stock.

Browse by brand and machine type

Navigation by brand, machine type and application, with spare parts linked to the machines they fit.

I've built this model before

Wood Tech pairs inquiry-led machine pages with cart checkout for tooling, and I also handled its CRO, speed and SEO.

Plan-honest B2B advice

Most B2B features work below Plus, so I'll tell you whether you need Plus for deposits or company-specific catalogs, or don't need it at all.

How a B2B store build works

  1. 1

    Free review and fixed quote

I look at your range, how trade customers buy today, price lists and terms, send three points on what needs care, then a fixed quote.

  2. 2

    Catalog and B2B model

Machines, parts and used stock are structured, and companies, catalogs, price breaks and payment terms are mapped from your current setup.

  3. 3

    Build and test

Machine pages, inquiry forms, cart checkout, trade accounts and draft order flow are built, then tested with real buyers.

  4. 4

    Launch and trade onboarding

The store goes live, trade customers get their logins, and I review inquiry and order data to find what to improve first.

Is this the right fit

A good fit

  • You manufacture or distribute machinery, equipment, parts or tooling.
  • Some products need a sales conversation, others can sell from the cart.
  • You have trade customers with their own prices or payment terms.
  • You sell used equipment alongside new.
  • You want one fixed quote and one accountable person for the build.

Not the right fit

  • You need a full ERP or quoting system; Shopify can connect to one, not replace it.
  • Every sale is a custom-engineered project with no catalog to show.
  • You want ad management. I don't offer it, though I build the pages ads land on.

Your questions, answered.

What industrial machinery and B2B brands ask before starting a Shopify project.

Ask me about your store
Does Shopify work for manufacturers and B2B?

Yes, for manufacturers and distributors with a catalog to show. Shopify B2B handles trade accounts, pricing and payment terms, and inquiry-led pages handle products that need a sales conversation. It isn't an ERP, so stock and accounting usually stay in your existing system, connected by an integration.

Do I need Shopify Plus for B2B?

Often not. B2B runs on the Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus plans, and companies, catalogs, volume pricing, quantity rules and net terms work on all of them. Plus adds company-specific catalogs, deposits and partial payments, and lifts the limit of three active catalog assignments.

Can I show trade prices only to trade customers?

Yes. Trade buyers sign in to their company account and see their catalog's prices and quantity rules. Retail visitors see retail prices, or no prices if you prefer, which I set up in the theme.

Can buyers request a quote online?

Yes. Trade orders can be held as drafts for your team to review before approval, and your sales staff can build quotes as draft orders and send an invoice link. For machines, the Enquire Now form passes the model to your sales team.

Can inquiries go into my CRM?

Usually, yes. Inquiry forms can send to email, to Shopify's customer records, or to your CRM through an app or integration. I map where each form goes during the build, so nothing lands in an unread inbox.

How much does a Shopify B2B store cost?

Store design and development starts from $300. B2B setup, inquiry flows, integrations and catalog size all affect the final price. You get one fixed quote after a free review.

Can parts be matched to the machines they fit?

Yes. Each part stores the machines it fits in a metafield, so the machine page lists its spare parts and the part page lists compatible machines. Buyers stop guessing, and your team answers fewer emails.

Can I sell machinery into the EU or UK from Australia?

You can, but machinery must meet the marking and safety rules where it's sold, such as CE in the EU and UKCA or CE in Great Britain, and tax rules change with the buyer. Check with an adviser for your exact products.
