Shopify redesign
Shopify store redesign that lifts sales
I redesign Shopify stores around where buyers drop off, not around a mood board, and build the new design while your current store keeps selling. Every redesign gets a fixed quote, in writing, after a free review.

Overview
Redesign for sales, not looks
A redesign that only changes how a store looks can cost sales. Regular buyers have to relearn where things are, and pages that rank in Google can slip if URLs or content move without a plan. I start from the other end. Before any design work, I look at where your current store loses people, from the homepage to product pages to cart, and the redesign is built around fixing those points.
On the Shopify side, the safe way to redesign is on an unpublished theme. Shopify lets stores on Basic, Grow and Advanced keep up to 20 themes in the theme library, and Plus stores up to 100, as checked on 7 November 2026. You can preview an unpublished theme and share a preview link for feedback, so the new design is built and reviewed while the old one keeps selling. Only one theme is live at a time, and the switch happens when you approve it.
If your store still runs a vintage theme, a redesign is the moment to move to an Online Store 2.0 theme. Shopify says 2.0 themes support sections on most pages and are built with JSON templates, while its free vintage themes get only security fixes. Where URLs change, every old address gets a redirect, and standard plans allow up to 100,000 of them.
Not every store needs a full redesign. Sometimes targeted CRO work, which starts from $500, fixes the real problem faster. Store design and development starts from $300. A redesign of an existing store starts from $350, with a fixed quote in writing after a free review. If you're weighing a premium theme against a custom one, read theme vs custom build first.
Signs you need this
- Traffic is steady but sales aren't, and you can't see why.
- The store looks dated next to competitors, especially on mobile.
- You're on a vintage theme, or a theme so heavily edited that it can't be updated.
- Simple page changes need a developer because the theme can't do them in the editor.
- Apps added over the years have made the store slow and inconsistent.
What the service includes
Conversion review first
Analytics, product pages, cart and mobile layout reviewed to find where buyers drop off, before any design starts.
Theme choice
Your current theme reworked, a new Online Store 2.0 theme, or a custom theme, chosen by what your store needs.
Page design
Homepage, collection, product, cart and key content pages designed mobile first, with clear navigation and trust content.
Built on an unpublished theme
The redesign is built and previewed in your theme library while the live store keeps selling.
SEO kept intact
Page titles, content and URLs carried over, with a redirect for any address that changes.
App and speed tidy-up
Apps audited and removed where the new theme covers what they did, so the redesign doesn't carry old weight.

How it works
How it works
- 1
Free review
I look at your store, analytics and theme, then send three points on what's costing you sales.
- 2
Fixed quote and plan
You get a written scope, page list, timeline and fixed quote, plus my recommendation on theme or custom build.
- 3
Design and build
Designs are agreed page by page, then built on an unpublished theme you can preview and comment on.
- 4
Launch and review
The new theme goes live, redirects and tracking are checked, and I go through the conversion data with you afterwards.
Is it a fit?
Is this service right for you
A good fit
- Your store has traffic and sales, and you want more from the visitors you already get.
- Your theme holds you back from changes you want to make.
- You want design decisions explained, not just mock-ups.
- You want the old store selling until the new one is ready.
- You care about keeping your search rankings through the change.
Not the right fit
- Your store has almost no traffic yet. A redesign won't fix that, so marketing and SEO come first.
- Only one page or feature is the problem. A targeted fix costs less.
- You want a new look every few months for its own sake.
Comparison
Two kinds of redesign
| Aspect | Looks-only redesign | Sales-led redesign |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | A mood board | Where buyers drop off |
| Build | Edits to the live theme | Unpublished theme, previewed |
| URLs | Changed without a plan | Mapped and redirected |
| Apps | Carried over as they are | Audited, extras removed |
| Mobile | Checked at the end | Designed first |
| After launch | Done | Reviewed against data |

FAQ
Your questions, answered.
What store owners ask before starting this kind of project.
Ask me about your storeHow much does a Shopify store redesign cost?
A redesign starts from $350. The exact price depends on how many page types change, whether you keep, replace or custom-build the theme, and which apps and content need reworking. I review your store for free and send a fixed quote, in writing.
Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?
It can if URLs and content change without a plan. I keep titles and content on pages that rank, and any changed URL gets a redirect. Shopify's standard plans allow up to 100,000 URL redirects.
Can my store keep selling during the redesign?
Yes. The new design is built on an unpublished theme, which you can preview and share, while your live theme keeps selling. Only one theme is live at a time, so the switch happens when you approve it.
Should I buy a premium theme or go custom?
It depends on how standard your needs are. A good Online Store 2.0 theme covers most stores, and a custom build makes sense when your products or brand need layouts no theme offers. I recommend one in the quote, with the reason.
How often should a Shopify store be redesigned?
When the store stops serving buyers, not on a calendar. Common signs are a vintage theme, a theme too edited to update, or a mobile layout that lags behind your competitors.
Is a redesign the same as CRO?
No. CRO finds and fixes specific problems in an existing store and starts from $500. A redesign changes the whole store, and I use the same conversion thinking to plan it. Sometimes CRO alone is the better buy, and I'll tell you if so.
Will my products, customers and orders be affected?
No. They're stored in your Shopify admin, not in the theme, so changing the theme changes how they're shown, not the data itself.
What do I need to provide?
Collaborator or staff access to your store, your brand assets, and any notes on what customers ask about most. I'll ask for analytics access during the free review.
