What you pay Plus for
A Plus licence doesn't make a store better on its own. It opens up features someone has to build on, and that's where the value sits. As checked on Shopify's Help Center and developer docs on 7 November 2026, the main ones are: apps that customise the information, shipping and payment steps of checkout, custom apps that use Shopify Functions, up to 9 expansion stores, unlimited staff accounts, up to 100 themes in the theme library and up to 20,000,000 URL redirects.
Checkout is the big one. On other plans, checkout apps are limited to the thank you and order status pages. On Plus, I build checkout UI extensions for the steps where buyers decide, and use the Checkout Branding API for the look. Shopify Functions handle the logic: discounts, payment and delivery rules, cart and checkout validation. Public apps with functions work on any plan, but only Plus stores can run custom apps that contain them, so the rules can be written for your business rather than someone else's.
B2B is the other common reason to upgrade. Basic, Grow and Advanced now include Shopify B2B with up to 3 active catalogue assignments. Plus removes that cap, lets you assign a catalogue directly to a company location, and adds deposits, partial payments and payment requests per fulfilment. Shopify Flow can also run tasks from custom partner apps, on Plus only.

It starts from $300 for focused checkout work, such as a checkout extension. The exact price depends on what's being built: a checkout extension is a very different job from an ERP integration. I review your store for free and send a fixed quote, in writing, before any work starts. Custom app work starts from $800.
Do I need Shopify Plus to customise checkout?
For the information, shipping and payment steps, yes. Shopify lists apps that customise those steps, and the Checkout Branding API, as Plus only. On Basic and above, apps can still add to the thank you and order status pages.
What's the difference between Plus and Advanced for B2B?
Both include Shopify B2B with companies, net terms, quantity rules and volume pricing. Advanced allows up to 3 active catalogue assignments across B2B markets. Plus has no cap and adds direct company catalogues, deposits, partial payments and payment requests per fulfilment.
What does the Shopify Plus plan itself cost?
Shopify's Plus plan page lists the lowest fee as $2,300 a month on a 3-year term, or $2,500 a month on a 1-year term, as checked on 7 November 2026. Higher-volume stores may also pay a variable platform fee. That's paid to Shopify, separately from any development.
Can you work alongside our in-house team or agency?
Yes. I can build specific extensions or apps while your team handles the rest, and I document everything so your developers can maintain it. You still have one point of contact: me.
Do expansion stores need their own theme?
Shopify says each live expansion store needs its own theme licence. Plus supports 9 expansion stores, and I plan which products, prices and content are shared and which differ by store before anything is built.
Can you help us move onto Plus?
Yes. I check whether your current store should simply move to the Plus plan or be rebuilt, and what changes in apps, checkout and B2B once Plus is active, then quote for the work.
How long does a Plus project take?
It depends on scope. One checkout extension and a multi-store integration are very different jobs. The timeline is written into the quote, and I flag anything that depends on your team or a third-party app.
